Together we can break the cycle of poverty and disease by empowering AIDS widows, orphaned and other vulnerable children, disabled children and adults and child-headed households.
Local women are trained in HIV/AIDS education, nutrition and empowerment.
The River Fund’s local, hands on, grassroots program serves individuals and families who may not receive adequate social services: the unemployed; those suffering from substance abuse, mental health issues, and HIV/AIDS; mothers and grandparents caring for multiple children.
Gifford is an important part of the diverse fabric of Indian River County. It has a rich African American history and culture and boasts numerous pioneer families, with close family ties and a strong sense of community. It has also suffered historical and economic discrimination in a county listed among those in the nation with the greatest income inequity.
